Bhagavad Gita: simple and profound lessons

What is the Bhagavad Gita? It is profound wisdom from ancient India. It literally means “song of God”; Bhagavad means God and Gita meaning Song. The Bhagavad Gita is a 700 verse Hindu scripture in Sanskrit and is part of the 6th book of Mahabharata. My Mother Says what makes The Mahabharata special; is that there are no restrictions on who can read it. Everyone regardless of caste or social position may hear or read it at any time. Vedavyasa wrote it with the view not to exclude all the people in the worlds who are outside of the Vedic culture. And the purpose of the scripture is to share knowledge about God, birth, death, the soul, and the purpose of human existence.
